Sewerage for State School Nears Approval

Braybrook Shire Council heard that Sunshine State School sewerage installation is likely soon. Secretary E Hargreaves said costs and authorization papers were expected that day after review by Public Works and Education departments, with leaders for the work to be called in shortly. MLA G M Prendergast aided the effort.

Albion Methodist harvest festival set with services and concert

The annual harvest festival of Albion Methodist Church will be held on Sunday with morning and evening services led by Dr. A. Lowe at 11 and Rev. G. R. Godbehear at 7. A festival concert and social follows Monday evening in the school hall. Braybrook council estimates about £650 for water service pipe work on Ballarat Road up to McIntyre Road to protect the surface during construction.

Deer Park Charlie Vaude's Visit

The tennis committee of the Progress Association held a community singing night headlined by Charlie Vaude of 3DB. Large attendance joined in classic and modern songs, with accompanist Reg Brown Slim. Weather kept away many would attend. organizers hope to book Vaude again soon.

Obituary for Mrs Dr Davidson of Sunshine

The death occurred in Dalmuir Scotland on January 15. Mrs Dr Davidson mother of Alan Davidson John Davidson of 77 Benjamin Street Sunshine and James Davidson of Auburn. She was well known in Sunshine where she lived seven years before returning to the Old Country. She was 69.

Progress Association discusses public telephone slot and stock control

At the Progress Association monthly meeting the need for a public slot telephone at Cornwall and Devonshire Roads was urged due to population density. Officials plan to involve the shire council and define areas to curb wandering stock. Dr. Parsons praised progress groups and supported tree planting to attract builders to Sunshine, amid municipal matters. Braybrook Council to oppose Maidstone severance move

Braybrook Shire Council heard that an advisory board under the Local Government Act would handle a petition for severance and annexation of the Maidstone area by Footscray. Dr Lowe urged opposing the severance, arguing Footscray seeks only part of the shire and Braybrook should keep the remainder. The motion to oppose was carried.

Sunshine Road name change approved by Footscray Council

Footscray City Council supports renaming Sun bury Road to Sunshine Road along the railway line from West Footscray. Gazetting steps will proceed. Wright Street removal from the change is rejected to avoid confusion. Sunshine Road will end at the McDonald Road railway crossing.
