Obituary for Private Keith Boreham in World War II service

Private Keith Boreham aged 20 died after leg amputation at Heidelberg Military Hospital. Born in Sunshine he was the son of Mr and Mrs Boreham of Morris Street Sunshine. He served in the Australian Military Forces with the 27th Employment Company and was a member of the IOR. The funeral with military honors was held at Springvale Cemetery conducted by Padres Vaneer Michell and Dennis.

Alfred Thomas Hatton aged 18 died at his son’s Sunshine home on January 27 after a long illness. He worked for Northcote Council in charge of Electric Supply and is survived by three sons and his wife and daughter predeceased him. Funeral held at Melbourne General Cemetery. Edward MacGavin of 2 Corio Street Sunshine died January 24 at 62 after a long illness. a Corowa, New South Wales native who had lived in the district over 30 years and retired in 1939 due to illness.

Mrs Mary Elizabeth Duncan J P, widow of J B Duncan, died at her son Lawler Duncan’s home in Sunshine on January 4 at age 70. Her funeral service and burial at Lawler station near Minyip were conducted by Presbyterian minister Hastie with assistances Kennedy and War veterans as coffin-bearers and local pallbearers. She was honored for wartime work with an ILS S.L.A. certificate and was active in the Country Women’s Association.

Miss Audrey Batten and A C Liersch were married Friday January 24 at the Albion Methodist Church with Rev H Michell officiating. The bride wore magnolia satin and a tulle veil, carrying water lilies and white gladioli. Attendants wore blue floral frocks and carried white lilies.
