Mr J Willan told the Sunshine Progress Association that Sunday trading in groceries is occurring in several parts of Sunshine. A local grocer confirmed blatant Sunday trading in defiance of the law, with unwrapped goods observed. The group decided to notify authorities to address the issue.
Officials reportedly reject asks from the Asking Progress Association and Braybrook Shire Council for postal upgrades at Sunshine including night clearance of letter pillars, a branch post office at Albion, and delivery to Tiny Town. A cited reason about winter shade blocks remains disputed as streets have recently improved.
At a Progress Association meeting Dicksen urged changing Sunbury Road to Sunshine Road citing signpost guidance and delivery efficiency. He proposed Ypres Road as a further colorful option, noting no man’s land conditions at the Footscray Braybrook boundary and calling for a Footscray end direction board to improve address clarity.
A fire destroyed the caretaker’s residence at Ficken Halliday McClelland Braybrook last Friday. Firefighters arrived late due to delayed alarm, with the building and contents partially insured. Grass fires at Cooper Street and Jackson Street burned small areas, while Tottenham Gun Club grass area saw half an acre burn before containment. Local brigade warns residents to contact the station immediately and use alarms to prevent larger blazes.
