St Albans social events and tennis court opening noted

Considerable interest in Jen sens Hawaiian band engagement for kindergarten funds with free services and low cost activites. A euchre tournament offers a £1 first prize. Linton Tennis Court opened by Rev F Sadler with tea and ice cream. Drs J Eddie and H Easton played a six game match won by Easton 6 3. Appreciation extended to volunteers and donors for the ball event.

Obituary of Mrs Jane Webster McDonald of Moonee Ponds

Mrs Jane Webster McDonald died at 10 Lorne Street Moonee Ponds aged 72. Originating from Scotland she was mother to Elizabeth Hayden of Sunshine and Jean Lasslett of Moonee Ponds. Funeral carried on Monday to Inkner Cemetery with many floral tributes from relatives and friends.

Plans Approved for New Catholic School at Drummartin Adelaide

Braybrook Council Public Works Committee approved plans for a single storey Roman Catholic School at Drummartin and Adelaide Streets Sunshine. Estimated cost £12,000. Shire Engineer H Robinson said plans were in order and a Building Directorate permit obtained. Others noted church buildings under construction in residential areas.

Brother and Sister Meet After 43 Years in Australia

Mr. Jim Soutar of Sunshine Victoria met his youngest sister Mrs Beamish from Falkirk Scotland who left in 1905 for Canada and later Vancouver. She is visiting Australia and they reunite after 43 years with a house party planned at Soutar’s home while Braybrook Council plans pavilion work at Selwyn Park costing about £50.

Death of Fine Christian Woman Mrs Drayton

Hundreds mourn Mrs BE HH Drayton wife of Dr E H Drayton after a long illness and a recent operation at Sunshine. A large Sun shine Methodist Church service honored her life of charity and service with floral tributes and prayers by Rev A H Small and others. She leaves her husband four children and ten grandchildren.

Dr. John Adamson Mourned in Sunshine District

Expressions of regret followed the news of Dr. John Adamson’s death at his East Malvern home. The former medical officer of health for Braybrook Shire lived in Sunshine since 1900, served the sick and needy, and was active in clubs and public service.

Sunshine Court fines for gun carry and drunkenness

Jack Pontin of 13 Wright St Sunshine was fined £2 for carrying a shotgun near Kororoit Creek on 31 October. Duncan Brown of 288 Hampshire Rd Sunshine was fined £1 for drunkenness on 21 November. Defendant admitted two prior convictions for similar offences.

Sunshine Younger Set Girls Physical Culture Display

The Sunshine Younger Set Girls present the annual physical culture display at Shire Hall on Wednesday next South Dec. Almost 300 girls from senior, intermediate and junior sections will perform a nonstop program starting at 7 pm. Acts include ball team, classical, clubs, rods, freearm, lapping and novelty items. Tickets are available from the girls or at the Advocate office.

Thieves Target Albion School Garden Beds

Thieves removed seven rose bushes from Albion school grounds over the past week leaving plantings misshapen. The act troubled students who cared for the roses and an earnest appeal is issued to the public to report any information to the Headmaster or the help police.
