Seconds record great win in last game of season
At Selwyn Park Sunshine Seconds with only B Players defeated Brunswick runs to 3. Charlie Jones promoted from the thirds pitched with control and scored two hits. Weather shortened three innings as the ground became very wet. John Vviney’s slide into home plate was unusual. The Voice impressed while subbing for the opposition as Sunshine, though not having the best season, stayed together despite heavy margins.

McDonnell Sash race crowns Petherick in season finale
Merv Petherick, in his twentieth year with St. Mark's Harriers, won the Five Mile McDonnell Sash after a hard duel with Les Coulson over the last two miles. Fred Davey surged from scratch to claim third as the club's eighteenth year record neared, with a 27 minutes 38 seconds clocking that briefly challenged the historic 27 minutes mark set by Jack Mattinson.
