Nettlefolds Sports Club Gala Uplifts Sunshine District

A large crowd attended the Nettlefolds Sports Club event on Saturday night, with Town Hall and Masonic Hall in use to fit 600 dancers. The show featured a ballet of local employees, aided by Em Roberts’ band, with Miss Bessie Harper and Miss Doris Harper organizing the performances and costumes by Mrs Judd. Proceeds after expenses amount to about £25 for relief work, and the evening drew praise from workers and officials alike for organizing skill.

Sustenance Work Shelved by Braybrook Council

The Public Works Committee’s Sustenance scheme was shelved for fourteen days at Braybrook Council last Monday. The crowded chamber forced the President to limit entry, while unemployed protesters gathered outside. Dr Dempster proposed a counter plan for more work and less clothing, triggering a clash with the President who threatened removal of intersector. The legality of funding the scheme was again questioned as extraordinary expenditure.

A Suggestion Worth Considering for Braybrook

The Shire of Braybrook debates building two tennis courts on leased land opposite Dr. Adamson’s residence. Nettlefolds and Harvester Works workers may fund materials and wages through unemployment relief, creating the Nettlefold Court and a second court. The plan aims to provide work, create a lasting memorial, offer a valuable public facility, and enhance the soldiers’ avenue of honor.
