Interest in Next Mayor of Sunshine
In the absence of elections attention focuses on the new mayor. The present mayor Dr G E Dobson will not run and speculation centers on Labor candidates. Labor’s two to one majority suggests a Labor member will be chosen, possibly from the Central Ward with Dr J Downing as a likely option. If Labor opts for an open race Dr J Parsons emerges as an excellent alternative. Parsons has long service and has been Shire President but never mayor. Labor’s larger majority could allow a generous choice and still keep council control.
