Presidential Ball in Braybrook Raises Funds for Charity
The Shire Hall event drew over 500 attendees with around £150 allocated to the Children’s Hospital and the Food for Britain Appeal. Dr. J. S. The Clarke Gold Medal of the Royal Humane Society is awarded to Mrs Elizabeth Williams of North Ballarat for saving two children from being run over by an express train at Sunshine on February 22. Williams, while near Lt Fraser Street, Sunshine, frantically dragged an elder child from the tracks, then rolled another to safety as the train approached. The act was witnessed by Dr. Barclay.
