Sunshine Methodist Church Opens 1910 Anniversary Weekend

The Sunshine Methodist Church marks its 1910 opening with an Anniversary Concert by the Sunshine Choral Society on Saturday. Rev A H Small conducts Sunday family service inviting all Methodists to attend in family groups. Anniversary preacher Rev Prof A E Albiston will lead evening worship with the church choir. Temple Day offering collected at both services.

Sunshine Presbyterian Men's Brotherhood Meeting Reminder

The Sunshine Presbyterian Men's Brotherhood notes its next gathering in the Sunday School Hall on Wednesday May dth at 8 p.m. At the last meeting Captain J P Williams gave an illustrated talk on Salvage Operations including raising the ship Santhia from Koogli River mud in Calcutta. Also announced is the opening of the new Church of Christ in Richilieu Street Maidstone on Saturday May 7 at 5 p.m with first services on May 8.

Sunshine Cricket Club Plans May Meeting and Tour

Sunshine Cricket Club notes a committee meeting in the Advocate Office on Wednesday evening May 4. With few urgent matters, attendees may vote on a pennant trophy, receive a miniature, and arrange photographs. The club also plans an enlargement for Braybrook Shire and a forthcoming country tour, with members to be advised.

Infant Mortality Rate Rising in Braybrook Shire

Government statistics show Braybrook Shire has a higher infant mortality rate than most metropolitan municipalities. Memorial Tablet Unveiled for War Fallen in Sunshine Shire

The Sunshine Shire Hall entrance memorial tablet honoring local fallen from the 193045 war was unveiled by Shire President CJ Barretty on Monday morning. A second tablet lists names of the fallen from IM4-18. Anzac Day rites included a one minute silence, wreaths by local organizations, and an evening service led by Capt. Woodlands of the Salvation Army. The crowd heard about the link between past diggers and present sacrifices. Sunshine Dads' Assn and L.A.M.O. OF Lodge participated, with Girl Guides and Scouts, and a lighted venoraph added an innovation to the service.

Sunshine was labelled the worst suburb in Melbourne for street parking on a Saturday morning. Dr Beachley told the Council on Monday that officers should consider employing a staff member as a traffic inspector to curb indiscriminate parking.

West Sunshine street scheme approved by Braybrook Council

Braybrook Council on Monday adopted a street construction scheme for Glengala Road Armstrong and Mernda Streets West Sunshine without footpaths. Estimates of costs prepared notices to ratepayers served. The Engineer favored omitting footpaths to save cost and the Shire Secretary explained that footpaths in undeveloped streets lead to maintenance. Dr Barclay argued residents wanted footpaths and moved to resubmit to the Engineer but the amendment was defeated.

Errington Reserve approves electric hot water for pavilion

At a well attended meeting on Wednesday last the Errington Reserve Committee finalised arrangements for installing an electric hot water service at the Pavilion. Other improvements to the pavilion will be carried out. Tonight in St Albans the Girls' Club hosts a Novelty Ball in the local hall and a Euchre Party at Mr and Mrs D Thomas home in aid of Kindergarten funds.
