Braybrook Council debates a plan to raise the Shire to a city as the Minister of Public Works requests a formal severance of a portion of the Shire while keeping the act’s nine square miles criterion. Dr Parsons questions guarantees on future city legislation and hints at withdrawing the proposal if terms are not met.
Braybrook Council let a major contract to J H Wheelahan for constructing a group of streets in a precinct bounded by Ballarat Road Richelieu Suffolk and Ashley Streets. The tender totaled £67 829 60 with two other bids rejected as outdone by the successful bid.
Overcrowding at Braybrook School leads Education Department to consider using Ravenhall Dr hall in East Sunshine to relieve pressure. There are 212 pupils, many from East Sunshine, with temporary use to occur during East Sunshine school reconstruction after consultation with the local kindergarten.
Sunshine Football Club holds a practice at Selwyn Mark this Saturday urging full attendance. A team slate shows A side opening the season against Altona at Altona, B side hosting Essendon, and C side meeting Kinerville at Gardons Reserve.

Council members cited dangerous crossings at Sunshine Road near Tottenham Station due to poor lighting and traffic control when White City operates. Dr Beachley moved to request a police-oversight hearing and a traffic fix to address the risk to pedestrians.

Mrs Charlotte Luxford widow of the late Edward Luxford died at Surrey Hills on Wednesday April 8 at age 85. A longtime resident of St Albans she supported town life, gardens, and the Church of England. Funeral at Fawkner Crematorium Friday with Rev Robt Dann presiding. she leaves daughter Miss Gladys Luxford and son Mr Ernest Luxford. son Syd predeceased her. Nelson Bros arranged the funeral.
Two men charged at Sunshine Court on Tuesday offered no defence and paid the usual penalty for a first offence a fine of £26 or in default two months imprisonment. Defendants were Harry Edward Welsh 21 Watsons Grove Braybrook and Palward Newnan Ballarat Rd Deer Park Hetel on YOO Maveed tet.
