Bungalow on large block refused by Sunshine Council

A. F. Van Der Vierk of 8 Ridley Street had an application to erect a two room bungalow at the rear of a house on a 60 by 210 foot block. Sunshine Council refused on Monday though planning officials urged approval citing need for space and air. Dr A Beachley supported permission noting large families. inspector and city engineer varied in view, while the town clerk noted council cannot refuse if space and regs are met.

Sunshine to share in water supply program

Parts of Sunshine will share in the 640,000 programme of the MUMULW to improve water supply for Melewins sub. The plan covers major projects including over 21 miles of new mains. A new main from Tottenham to Sunshine is budgeted to reduce past summer failures and ensure uninterrupted supply in hot weather.

High Standard of Exhibits at Horticultural Show

A Sunshine forthural Society Autumn Show showcased a record number of exhibits across all sections. The mayor H Skinner praised the society and Royal Horticultural Society guest L Saunders. Prizes included Fawkner Medal to Mrs Robertson and blue ribbons for best data, vase arrangements, gladioli, and made up displays. Extra hours for payment of rates at Sunshine Town Hall

The rate office will be open until 6 pm next Friday to handle last minute rush for rate payments. It will operate from 4 50 am to 1 20 am on Saturday 11th April. Rates must be paid to avoid arrest. Goods valued at £5 were stolen from Alf Faulkner's shop in Devonshire Road on Monday night.

Road deviation plan discussed at Bun Wine Council

A Bun Wine Council meeting discussed completing the road deviation between Monga Street and South Bend this year. Residents highlighted unsafe conditions on Duke Street north of Yoonah Street and the need for tighter enforcement on various sites. The council referred the issue to the SEC, noting Duke Street can’t join the Central Ward works list for this year.
