A French officer mistaken for General Bonaparte is detained after Major Dalton questions him about passport identity and origin. He is taken to the Glebe House and kept as a prisoner while awaiting word to notify his cousin Arthur of the apparent capture.
In Tuesday and Thursday sessions the House spent time on Pauper Grants and the Education Bill. The Education Bill was shaped through many clauses, with progress reported and a long committee review leading to substantial amendments including teacher salaries, normal school provisions, and grammar school rules.
On Wednesday April 15 Mr. Yeo presented a report from the Committee on the West Point Wharf petition. The report urges swift government action to ensure erection of a wharf for Western Prince County, citing hardship from delays and urging consideration of alternate sites if needed.
