Dowey's Execution on Pownal Square Charlottetown
A man named George Dewey was executed for murder on Pownal Square in Charlottetown. He confessed on the platform before the first drop failed and he fell, was revived, and brought back for a second drop which succeeded. A volunteer guard kept the crowd back as Dewey died and his body was removed to a coffin.
