Stonewall town apologizes after Father's Day complaints about weed overgrowth in Stonewall Cemetery. Town crews then weed whacked and cut shrubs, citing harsh winter and Agricultural Fair priorities, with plans for fall spraying to reduce dandelions next spring.
Selkirk native Thomas Novak will become chief executive officer of the Interlake Regional Health Authority on July 2 as the province prepares a full regional takeover of health services in April 1997. Novak was chosen from about 100 applicants and brings Alberta health system experience to the post. The board plans to hire an administrative assistant once established, with setup costs budgeted at 264000 and a first-year funding package of 186000 drawn from facility surpluses.
Parents dispute last week's Argus report claiming two youths rolled a stolen truck. They state the vehicle rolled was a car taken from a parent's home. In panic a truck was taken without consent from a nearby farmhouse to transport an injured youth to the hospital.
