E.R. James of Grosse Isle, 58, wins the province wide exhibit with oil Thru the Rye beating professional and amateur rivals. Second prize goes to Leo Simoons. third to Tans Osted. The show, organized by Group Five, opened at the Red River Exhibition in Winnipeg. Memorial Day service at Stonewall honored war dead with Rev. J. Martinson addressing the crowd.

The Stony Mountain Council of the C. W. will host a Penny Parade and Smorgasbord in the Stony Mountain School Auditorium on Saturday, July 27. Smorgasbord runs 5 to 7 30 with prizes, entertainment, and a lucky guest prize. Admission is adults 1.25 and children under 12 60 cents.

Mr. G. A. Sherlock of Petersfield Manitoba was elected to Robertson Associate Membership in the Canadian Seed Growers Association in 1284 and has 21 years of service. He has grown pedigreed seed crops including O.A.C. 21 Herta Parkland barley Phatuher and Sellavik wheat and Climax timothy. He became a Foundation grower in 1952 and has produced four crops of Thatcher and Sella wheat and Climax timothy. An Anglican church member, he maintains a steady involvement in community affairs.

Fair Attractions Canceled Amid Muddy Grounds
Heavy rains Thursday night and Friday left the Rockwood Agricultural Fair grounds muddy prompting cancellation of several advertised attractions. Cattle and inside exhibits were commendable while the horse and pony display drew attention though overall entries were down from last year. Parade on Main Street and general attendance showed mixed enthusiasm as organizers hope to publish a full post fair report next week.
