The incident prompted cautions from 4-H leaders about proper halter handling and cord use.
Turbett family reports a mystery lightning strike carved a one by eight inch hole in their back wall and wrecked an answering machine and a VCR. Firemen investigated but could not explain how the outage climbed from the roof to the internal line. The Turbetts, moving soon, say the incident remains a puzzling curiosity.
