Safety Day program teaches Stonewall youth injury prevention
For eight years Stonewall area youths have learned safety from experts at the Stonewall and Area Progressive Agriculture Safety Day held June 3 at the VMSC arena. Organizers led by Theresa Klus brought together RCMP ATV safety, sun safety and home fire safety with a smokehouse crawl, engaging nearly 200 kids across ten stations. Community partners including IRHA Town of Stonewall RM of Rockwood and many supporters helped run the event and promote injury reduction.

Winnipeg man plans 60 kilometre walk for cancer charity
Gary Arsenault will start from his Winnipeg home at 6:30 a.m. on June 12 to hike 60 km toward Teulon along Hwy 7. He aims to raise funds for the Liliane Baron South Interlake Breast Cancer Support Group and for his cousin who recently lost his wife to cancer. Last year he raised about $2,600. He documents weekly training with 10 km Monday, 18 km Wednesday, and 25 to 30 km Saturday.
