Stonewall to Build New Main Street Library
Stonewall moves toward a new 7500 to 8000 square foot library with a stone front and heated bookmobile bay. Cecil Wilson says final plans by June 15 allow contractor hiring and a July 1 construction start with completion in early November. Financing totals about 264000 from three municipalities plus a 50000 grant and a pending government grant. The historic design preserves heritage status and site parking off 1st Street West.

Stonewall seniors centre fundraising aims for $400000
The Stonewall building committee, led by Alex Krawec, seeks to raise 400000 for a proposed 6500 square foot seniors centre east of Lions Manor and south of Crocus Manor. So far the largest pledge is 10000 from Stonewall Kinsmen Club with grants under consideration from lotteries New Horizons and the Senior Directorate.

Bylaw ban on hunting eyed near Rockwood roadways
At a May 12 Rockwood council meeting, Whaley urged a bylaw banning hunting along road allowances on Lockport Road east of PA 220 to the Rockwood St Andrews boundary. Natural Resources to draft the bylaw. RCMP will enforce.

Hospital construction ready as funds awaited
Bergen said everything is prepared including furniture and wall colours. Construction could start in six to eight weeks once government funds are released. The $7 million project covers a hospital and a 20 bed personal care home. The first phase builds the hospital, then the current facility will be demolished for the personal care extension.
