Prosperous People Tap the Record of Friendly Societies
Mr. W. E. Johnson spoke at Rogarah on Wednesday night arguing that the working classes are uplifted by friendly societies and savings banks. He cited rising totals and per head amounts, disputing claims of widespread oppression and noting limited cases of incapacity or reluctance to work. He contrasted with vast American fortunes and British aristocracy.
