Lions Turned Over Funds To Arena Project
The Lac du Bonnet Lions Club, in its first meeting of the year, routed 3315.80 to the arena fund from club projects over the past year. A 1315.80 profit remained after auction expenses. The club pledged 2000 from July 1 proceeds, plus 537.41 for Steve Soroko in Winnipeg. A stage costing about 400 was built and turned over to child overseas. The club aims to stay active in the coming year.

Body recovered from Winnipeg River near Powerview Dam
The body of Emile Matecka, 58, of Powerview was recovered Tuesday from the Winnipeg River at the Powerview Dam near Pine Falls, Manitoba. RCMP say the body appeared to have been in the water for some time. There was no report of a missing person, but foul play isn’t suspected. A post mortem has been ordered to determine the cause of death.

Oktoberfest Beergarden Event Promised At Arena
Residents recall a lively Beergarden night and look forward to Oktoberfest in Lac du Bonnet Arena on October 10. Single Car Accident Claims Beausejour Youth
Earl Leathwood of Beausejour died in Winnipeg General Hospital at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday from injuries after a single car mishap ten miles southwest of Lac du Bonnet on Provincial Road 214 Milner Ridge Road. He was twenty years old. The accident occurred on Saturday at 3:00 a.m. An unofficial source says the car carried five other persons and two girls from Lac du Bonnet when a blow out caused the car to roll. Leathwood was thrown from the vehicle. others were not seriously injured.

Reynolds Elementary Named At Agassiz School
At a recent Agassiz School Bates meeting the Reynolds Elementary School was officially named. The Grades 1 to 6 institution was built this year in the Reynolds Local Government District area and opened in September with four teachers and about 100 students. Principal is Mr. S Cesmystruk. teachers include Mr. R Goerzen, Mrs. R Goerzen, and Miss S Keynes.
