Fall fertilizer guidance for Manitoba forage stands
Manitoba forage seed growers in Red River Valley and high lime soils should apply fall fertilizer to forage stands. Fall applications can match spring results, though very wet falls or springs may reduce response. Legume stands benefit from 11-48-0 or similar on high lime soils, while pure grain stands in Red River Valley require 125 to 250 pounds per acre of 27-14-06 or 33.5-0-0, with legumes needing more phosphate. Winnipeg Week 4-H program details follow.
