Residents hosted and visited relatives over the long weekend with many trips to lakes and out of town schools. Students headed to Wilcox Sask and other institutions while church groups planned holiday card sales and welfare donations. A fowl supper date was set for November 6 and meetings continue October 4.

The record notes a death on September 7 at the Holiday Retreat. Rev C officiated the service with interment at Bissett Cemetery. Russell Funeral Home handled arrangements for Geo Moore and Mrs Harold Evans. The Moore family includes 22 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Dowtons added green siding and white trim to their log cabin attracting attention as September 17 social dance at the Social Hall looms. The Social Club sponsors the 9 pm event with city style orchestra and refreshments. Police handled multiple calls over the long weekend as holiday crowds dwindled.
Beverly Ann Bryan and Louis Suknacki were united in marriage at St. Anthony's Mission Chapel Bissett on September 3. Rev Father Ell officiated, with organist Miss M Hogue and hymns sung by the Father. The bride wore a white Peau de soie gown with lily point sleeves and a silk illusion veil. Matron of honor Mrs W Schlechter and bridesmaid Miss Jean Bryan wore pink lace and yellow organza respectively. A reception and dance followed at the bride's aunt's home and Community Hall for about 200 guests before the couple departed for the coast and will settle in Bissett.

Prayers were said for John Jurewicz at Russell Funeral Chapel Beausejour and Requiem High Mass at St Marys Church for 81 year old John Jurewicz who died August 30 at Victoria Hospital. Interment was in the RC cemetery Born in Poland in 1879 he came to Canada 57 years ago Survived by three sons seven daughters six grandchildren one great grandchild. Funeral for Emil Pubanz 70 held at River Hills Lutheran Church with interment in Churchyard Cemetery Beausejour. Born in Russia he came to Canada 43 years ago settling River Hills district Survived by wife Tillie two sons Walter Winnipeg Gordon Port Stanley four daughters ten grandchildren. Mrs Eliza Huntley 84 of Bissett funeral held at Bissett United Church Saturday September 10.
Summer holidays took residents to city destinations. Erna attends Teacher Training College and Rita works as a nurse at Grace Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Powell plan winter at The Pas, while Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and family vacationed in Melville Sask visiting Mrs. Mallard’s grandparents. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Foushang on a daughter born August 24. No change in elementary teaching staff. Mr. Boiteau becomes principal. Two new families— the Walters and the Murphies — purchased property on Poplar Ave.
