About 200 attendees witnessed the formal opening of the Rainy Vista Lodge in Lac du Bonnet. Ralph Butchart welcomed guests as MLA Samusk and officials highlighted government housing investments, with future similar homes planned in Pine Falls, Whitemouth, and Beausejour. Jack Castelaine who held golf pro duties at the Pinawa Golf Course will retire at the end of the 1972 season. He plans to spend more time golfing and will be missed by fellow players around the Pinawa course.

Stirling Pipe Band Completes Perfect 1972 Season
The Stirling Pipe Band from Pine Falls Manitoba wraps a flawless 1972 season. They won Ist Prize and the Daly Trophy at Rivers Highland Gathering, plus the Rivers Highland Games Grand Aggregate Trophy for best all around pipe band. Members Maureen Rodger Allister Rodger and William Rodger earned multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals in solo and quartet events. The band will represent Pine Falls with Pipe Major W MacLeod and President F Welsh at the St Andrews Society Massed Pipe Band in the Pasadena Rose Parade January 1973.

Don Stupak successfully defended his Lac du Bonnet Men’s Open title in Pinawa with rounds of 37 and 36 for a four over par 73. Thirty-two golfers competed on a damp, warm day as flight winners were led by R Kost, E Brozell, and R Butchart.
