Pine Falls High Cadet Corps Recruiting For 1970 71
The Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps Pine Falls High School Cadet Corps No 2519 begins recruiting for 1970 71 training on Wednesday September 16 1970. Eligible boys are 13 to under 18 with a medical health certificate. The unit meets at Pine Falls Elementary School each Wednesday at seven o'clock through winter months.

Local Teachers Study Professional Development Programs
Peter Unfried of Lac du Bonnet joined about 100 delegates from across Manitoba at the tenth annual Manitoba Teachers' Society leadership seminar at Brandon University August 23 to 28. The program combined theory with practice, examining behavioral science findings and strategies to involve members in provincial and local work, with sessions on communications, meeting organization, and decision making.

Park officials lifted travel restrictions in Whiteshell Provincial Park begun August 14 due to extreme fire hazards. Readings dropped from high to low and moderate, easing access mainly on forest roads and undeveloped boat landings. Two weeks with three fires, one caused by human carelessness. province total fires 257 to end of August, below last year’s 324.
