Whitemouth Couple Celebrates 50 Years of Marriage
Aitkenheads marked their golden anniversary on Oct 4 at White mouth Municipal Hall with about 100 guests. The couple wed Oct 4 1904 at St John’s Anglican church in Hensingham Cumberland England and moved to Canada 25 years ago. They have five sons Jim Tom David William Leonard two daughters Ann Cook and Saul Adam, fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. A purse of money was given and a mock wedding entertained guests. A dinner in Winnipeg followed hosted by their family.

Elma youths find honesty pays reward given
Two Elma youths named David Kalin and Mike Shevchuk found a wallet on No 1 highway just east of Whitemouth last month and turned it in to the R C M P. Each boy received a five dollar reward for their honesty.

Lac du Bonnet Chamber Discusses New Skating Rink
The Lac du Bonnet Chamber of Commerce met at Casey's Inn on Tuesday October 5 to discuss a new skating rink for the district. Opposing indoor rinks due to abuse and neglect of the current facility, there was debate over funding and supervision. President J W Wade urged members to consider a temporary lake rink and noted the Memorial Centre committee would hold a public meeting soon to plan a properly supervised rink for children.

The Selkirk Health Unit will host a Child Health Conference at Lac du Bonnet Municipal Hall on October 21 from 1 30 to 5 pm inviting all parents with babies and preschool children. The unit offers maternal and child health, tuberculosis, immunization and health education services. Nurse Connelly works in the district part time until she becomes resident nurse.

Roads Group Makes Awards in Manitoba Good Roads
The Manitoba Good Roads Association judges completed inspections of municipal roads from the International Border to latitude 54 and across to Ontario border. Over 13,000 miles were reviewed with praise for improvements, beautification, and overall good conditions despite weather. Awards cover divisions for road systems, improvements, suburban and unincorporated areas, beautification, and residential farming grounds with trophies and special prizes announced for several towns and villages.

Inquest Held at Whitemouth on Miss Mconnell Death
An inquest at Whitemouth before coroner Dr. W Bilynski investigated the death of Mrs Isabel Mconnell of Winnipeg after the camper's special train wreck 39 miles west of Kenora on July 16. Post mortems by Dr R Giesbrecht and Winnipeg General Hospital pathologists found no gross anatomical injury and concluded shock as the cause. the jury affirmed.
