A shower stag at Ukrainian Parish hall celebrated Miss Florence Pleskacz of Sandhill and Michael Sliva of Tyndall. They will marry October 8, while Walter Kostuik announced engagement to Gladys Rassen of Port Arthur. Several local updates follow including health notes, travels, and community visits.

Beausejour hosted a Cavalcade of Prayer on October 2 drawing over 1500 residents from Beausejour and surrounding parishes for a family prayer rally. Archbishop Cabana led a procession through main street ending at St. Mary's churchyard for benediction, with bilingual rosary recitations and sermons by Rev. Fr. Lozinski and Fr. L. Wisienski.
The Pine Falls Community Project features a 94 by 180 foot skating rink and a 94 by 40 foot club area with a curling rink of 60 by 150 feet. Construction uses laminated arches and diagonal boarding. roofing is tarred by volunteers. Up above, a dance hall, lunch counter, dressing rooms, and rink views take shape. Estimated total cost is about 50 000 dollars, not including volunteer labor.
Tekla Kubish 72 longtime Beausejour resident died September 30 after a stroke. Funeral services October 3 at 10am Holy Ghost Greek Catholic Church Beausejour with Fr J Carmylo officiating. Burial in Beausejour Cemetery. Survived by husband Alex and six sons John Paul Laurie Joseph Nick Peter Mike plus four grandchildren. Pallbearers were her six sons. Born in Austria 1877. came to Canada 49 years ago settling Beausejour in 1921 after 14 years at St Owens. Funeral arranged by Renshaw.
A Sunday service on September 25 saw Whitemouth United church renamed Ross United church Whitemouth. Student minister Alan H McCuaig led the service Rev C R Newcombe presided and administered infant baptism and the Lord's Supper with a large communicant turnout.
Glenfields Mrs. Tom Wilograski welcomes son Jimmie Tom. Entertaining visitors include Mrs. E Skands former Emily Trojanoski and Miss Eleanor Trojanoski from Rossland. Christina Fielbekorn returns home after Winnipeg visit. Nick Limchuk of Allegra owns a 1949 Pontiac Born. Births announced at St Boniface Hospital. Pestulko family reveals engagement of Vicki to Julian Trojanoski.
A September 21 gathering at Anderson hall in Great Falls honored Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bjorkman on leaving the district. They arrived in 1915 from Lac du Bonnet, built a farm, raised eight daughters and a son, and contributed to local life with pioneer grit.
Ann Helen Nieser wed August G Schlecht at Beausejour Lutheran Church at 4 30 pm on September 17. Rev H Moertelmeyer officiated. The bride wore white satin with pearl encrusted net and carried pink roses. Bridesmaids in pale green and pink net, best man George Nieser, and flower girl Doreen Russell. Reception for family then honeymoon in Dryden Ontario and residence in Victoria British Columbia.

Clara Nicholls daughter of Mr and Mrs W H Nicholls married O M Hammerstedt of Lac du Bonnet at John Black Memorial church at seven pm on September 3. Attendants included maid of honor Winnifred Nicholls and bridesmaid Jean Pottage with Walter Hammerstedt as best man. The ceremony was followed by a reception at 273 Harbison Avenue.
Lorraine Knopf daughter of Mr and Mrs Ted Knopf wed Milton Kroker son of Mrs Howard of Winnipeg at St Pauls Lutheran on September 17 Rev W Henning presided organist Mrs Lorne Knopf played. Bride wore satin gown lace inset lily point sleeves veil with lace headdress and red roses. Bridesmaid Miss Doreen Hertzog best man Johnny Hertzog. Reception at bride home followed by trip to Winnipeg for several days.
The Springfield Liberal convention at Whitemouth chose W Lucko of Hazelglen as the party standard bearer for the upcoming provincial election. Five nominees contested, with Lucko defeating H Steiner by seven votes after four counts as delegates agreed on post nomination unity. Election machinery to be set up in all polls.
