Canada to raise noncontributory pension to seventy five
Canada plans to raise the basic noncontributory pension from 65 to 75 dollars a month for Canadians at age 70 and may alter or abandon the federal contributory pension scheme due to Ontario and Quebec positions. The government will fund the higher pension by higher taxes rather than current revenues, as Parliament weighs new tax plans to cover about 116 million dollars a year.

The piece links the exposure to Labour caution and Conservative self‑restraint as Britain steadies through postwar reform, NATO, and European questions.
