Canadians in UNEF patrol edge of Sinai frontier
The Royal Canadian Dragoons recon squadron serves with the United Nations Emergency Force in Egypt. A 24 hour UN assignment involves four man detachments patrolling desert dunes to stop any border incursion between Egypt and Israel. General Prem Singh Gyani praises their alertness, self confidence and cheerfulness as they guard a 25 mile northern Sinai sector amid Bedouin communities and relations built on daily water and basic medical aid.
