Ricky Augustine Earns Bronze Cross in Ottawa
Ricky Augustine and his father Emil traveled from Lac du Bonnet to Ottawa on Sunday October 25. Ricky was awarded the Bronze Cross at the Governor General’s residence alongside thirty other recipients for saving a little girl last summer. A 25 piece RCMP band attended the ceremony and lunch was served. the evening featured dinner at the Chateau Laurier with fellow medalists and Eastern Scout Leaders. They also attended a NHL game between Toronto and Montreal before returning Thursday.

Manitoba Municipal Polls Report Light to Moderate Turnout
Last Wednesday Manitoba voters went to the polls for municipal elections with Pinawa and Whitemouth showing light to moderate turnout. In Pinawa eight candidates vied for three Whiteshell No 2408 school trustees and results listed Eddie Olchowy 154 votes, Doug Molner 125, John Boulton 117, Marilyn Ann Grant 93, Bernice Putnam 93, Elmer Voelple 55, Simone Kirkham 54, and Tjalle Vander Graaf 35. Whitemouth Ward 1 saw Myron Zawada elected councilor with 51 votes, Peter Kalin 42, Michael Wawkre 38, Tony Gubenchyn 35. turnout overall about 65 percent in Whitemouth.
