Mechanical Auctioneer trial at Ontario Stockyards Toronto
The Mechanical Auctioneer was tested at the Ontario Public Stockyards in Toronto on August 10. Buyers press buttons to stop a clock like dial, setting prices in dollars and cents, with space for 48 bidders and a clock driven process. Commission agents control bids, can declare no sale, and calves may be returned if the bid value is unsatisfactory. The system may expand to sheep and lambs in time.
