A newly established milk route runs 200 miles from farms near Tupper Creek BC to Yukon residents aboard refrigerator trucks. Milk sells for 25 cents a quart and is billed as the world’s longest milk run.
Yorkton diners face a pie ration with only one pie type on menus. Any request for a different pie requires paying extra, while butter is included with all meals. Nearby reports note POW work assignments and local incidents.

The North-West Line Elevators Association asks the Dominion Government to raise barley to 92 cents and oats to 73 cents per bushel for crops since August 1 1945. They seek a 5 cent premium for malting barley and a not less than 1 80 per bushel wheat price for 1945 46 crops, with the Wheat Committee to study the proposals.
Visitors and homecomings fill a holiday weekend in Great Falls with arrivals from East Selkirk Lac du Bonnet Winnipeg Pine Falls and Winnipeg area. Local residents include Mr and Mrs Phil Metzler Mr and Mrs George Sinnock J B Warkentin and families.
Joyce Bonkowski daughter of Mr and Mrs J Bonkowski wed Walter Kiziak son of Mr and Mrs Peter Kiziak of Brightstone in Winnipeg at St Valdamir and Olga Church with Rev Father Kushnir officiating. Attendants were listed in the ceremony details.
The Lac du Bonnet Legion held a 3:30 parade May 19 organized by Rev. S Richardson. Services at the church honored fallen WWI veterans with flowers at the cemetery. In the evening locals gathered at the L O L for a dance lasting to 2 a.m.
Misses Frances Sikora and Margaret Zawislak wed as Emil Zikiak and Nick Maslo served as groomsmen. A reception followed at the residence of Mr. Peter Kulbaba.
Lillian Alma Freund of Steinbach married Alexander Hastman of St. Ouens in a Lutheran ceremony on May 13 officiated by Rev. H Moertel meyer. Ruth Hastman served as bridesmaid and G Freund as best man.
The Hungry Nine from Seven Sisters beat Beausejour 17 to 11 in a Sunday league game at Beausejour. Five runs in the sixth narrowed the gap to 11 12 before Hungry Nine added five more in the final inning to seal the win.
Welcome Home Day at Tyndall on May 24 drew a large crowd for a schoolyard picnic and a track and field event. The softball game between Returned Veterans and Reserve Army lads ended 7-4 with the veterans putting up a strong contest.
The 73 year old Alois Palecek of Brokenhead dies. A Czech immigrant who arrived 63 years ago, he lived in the district most of his life. Funeral at St. Peter's and Paul Church Ladywood was led by Father Letowski. Burial followed at Ladywood cemetery. Survived by a son and daughter.

Crowds prepare for Dominion Day July 1 with a detailed prize list and entries. Magistrate L S Matlin presided over a busy session with over thirty charges. William Gunning faced a 50 dollar fine for unlawful liquor purchase, Harry Kozyra 100 dollars for illegal liquor purchase, and others received fines or costs for vehicle offenses and vagrancy. John Vinson Holley pleaded guilty to three counts of receiving stolen goods and was sentenced to six months on each count.
Eastern Manitoba baseball schedule lists games from May 29 to July 17 featuring Tyndall Beausejour Lac du Bonnet Oakbank and Oaklands with playoff dates set for July 10 12 and 17. The circuit includes multiple road and home matchups across Beausejour Lac du Bonnet Oakbank Tyndall and Oakland venues.
Brown and Joe Sparman received six months on each charge to run consecutively for obtaining unlawfully goods and money from multiple victims including Mary J Hanson Alan Bajus and L G Chisholm at McLeods Ltd Pine Falls. Eric North of Whiteshell was fined $10.90 and costs for driving to the common danger and another charge of purchasing liquor unlawfully carried a $50 fine and costs.
