Canada Development Corporation urged to curb foreign control

The throne speech in the 26th Parliament proposes a Canada Development Corporation to finance Canadian enterprises of national importance. It would work with the Industrial Development Bank, raise equity from private sources, and be partly funded by government guarantees and life insurance or pension funds. The plan aims to keep profits and control within Canada while expanding production across industries and reducing American influence. It signals a major Liberal program to restore prestige, boost growth, and cut unemployment with new agencies and a national economic council.
