Experimental Maths Program Set for Fall
Manitoba moves to revise arithmetic in grades one to six with three new series tested in 56 classes involving about 1,600 pupils in 1914. A second phase in junior high will trial one grade eight and two grade nine texts with roughly 1,250 students. The aim is to shift from rote rules to analytic problem solving using equation approaches, with in service teacher training ahead of potential 1965 statewide adoption.
