Morten William Torrance retires after a career in Manitoba aviation. He joined the Manitoba Government Air Service, served as Chief Engineer in 1940, moved to Maintenance in 1945, and held the post until retirement. He also served 2.5 years in the R.C.A.F. during the last war.
A meeting of nineteen Hockey Mothers in the Arena building raised and pledged funds to support arena operations. Volunteers are sought for cleaning and auction work while donations from local groups and individuals are noted. A fan, six tables, and kitchen improvements were approved.
The Springfield Leader summarizes a hepatitis survey with limited public knowledge and unreachable households. From Sept 1, 1969 to Dec 31, 1969 thirteen cases were reported, and from Jan 1, 1970 to date the number reached one hundred.
The Springfield Leader reports fifty four hepatitis cases in two elementary schools since January 1, 1970 and nineteen in a Collegiate. About one tenth of children in schools have had hepatitis this year. Pinawa upstream with a modern water plant reports zero cases winter.
The Lac du Bonnet and District Chamber of Commerce met at the Lakeview Hotel on April 29. President C. Van chaired as members discussed dump location and a deferree meeting to hear the village plans. A census committee for seniors and a Lac du Bonnet veterinary clinic were noted, with W. Magura chairing the membership panel alongside B. Holm and B. Osis.
Eric Julius Anderson born May 6 1897 in Sundsvall Sweden. He moved to Canada with his parents in 1910 settling in Winnipeg for four years before Broadland arrival. Married Anna Carlson in 1926 and had six children now with twenty two grandchildren and one great grandchild. He remains active and enjoys life.
Mr and Mrs Adam Kulikowski of Lac Du Bonnet Manitoba celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 12 at the home of their son and daughter in law Mr and Mrs Kulikowsky. The couple wed in 1910 in the Lac Du Bonnet area near Iee Lake Ontario and Mrs Nick Hryer travelled from Vancouver to attend.
