New Approach Aims To Reuse Drugs In Leukemia Fight
A boy with leukemia is the focus of a trial by Dr. David Karnofsky in New York. Researchers remove and bank bone marrow cells before treatment and reintroduce preserved sensitive cells when resistance to drugs appears, potentially restoring drug effectiveness and extending remission across multiple cycles. If successful, the method could later be tried on patients before any drug exposure.
