Bowler Prizes Awarded at Pine Falls Annual Banquet

The ninth annual Pine Falls Bowling Club banquet was held at the Chateau on April 22 with about 175 attendees. The Munsie team won the bowling trophy. F Sellers topped men’s averages at 234 and Mrs P Gerdiner led women at 207. P Poitras and Mrs D White earned most progressive bowler honors. prize presenters included J Carey J Mitchell Mrs M Christie and C McCulloch. The evening closed with dancing to The Stardusters.

Karpoff Rosentreter Wedding at Swan River

A April 14 ceremony in Swan River Manitoba united Hilda Rosentreter and Albert Karpoff. Rev J B Kornalewski presided as 400 guests attended a reception at the Swan River Legion hall and the couple will reside in Winnipeg after honeymoon travels.

Marek Bialek wedding held at Sacred Heart Garson

A double ring ceremony for Wilma Bialek and Joseph Marek took place April 22 at Sacred Heart church Garson with Father Stan Prokop officiating. The bride wore a satin gown with a sweetheart neckline and orange blossoms in her veil. Bridesmaids wore pink and mauve, and a reception followed at St Mary's hall Beausejour before the couple planned to reside in Winnipeg.

Pointe du Bois Curling Club Windup Awards Night

The Pointe du Bois curling club held its annual windup on April 25 with president E Storesth and helpers presenting cups and prizes. Awards went to Warren cup G D Anderson and team, Eaton cup A MacDonald and team, Birks cup D Spadina and others, with contingents listed for runners up and high school Legion shield recipients, followed by refreshments, a dance and whist games.

Father Paradis Farewelled At Lac du Bonnet

A large Lac du Bonnet gathering in the Legion hall bid farewell to Rev. Father S. Paradis who is to depart for Edmonton. He thanked the community for three happy years and promised to visit. Father Frechette welcomed the new Notre Dame rector and shared best wishes.

Lac du Bonnet Curlers Hold Annual Meeting

The Lac du Bonnet Curling Club met on April 26 to review a highly successful season in the new rink. The club finished with a working balance and turned over 300 dollars to the Memorial Centre. For 1950 51 H P Smith will be president with Art Brown and Arvid Dancut as vice presidents and Paul August as secretary treasurer. Lac du Bonnet Regatta Promises Bigger 1950 Meet

The Manitoba Paddling Association tentatively approves an inter club regatta at Lac du Bonnet as a ten event program unfolds with speed boats sailing races and a full water program. A new trophy is donated for annual club competition and several larger boats are rumored to be prepared.

C of C Highways Delegation To Meet With Cabinet

The Associated Chambers of Commerce will press the Manitoba cabinet to meet a delegation on highway building north of No. 1 East. The April 24 meeting at Whitemouth approved resolutions for two road projects and surveys on three others, with delegates to be chosen from five chambers.

Members and friends of the Seven Sisters Falls Curling club gathered for the annual wind-up in the Community hall on Friday April 28. Surprise party honors Mrs. Bissett in Pine Falls departure

About 100 friends gathered at the Chateau on April 24 to honor Mrs. E. D. R. Bissett who is leaving Pine Falls after 23 years. She will move to Vancouver. Gifts included two brown cowhide travelling bags and a corsage. She thanked guests for their kindness and said farewell with mixed sadness and happiness. A luncheon followed the entertainment.
