Adequate nutrition boosts wool production in ewes
Fred Stevinsky reports from Lethbridge that pregnant ewes need at least 10 percent protein, equivalent to good alfalfa hay, for high wool and lamb output. Twin-bearing ewes on low protein showed 19 percent less wool vs singles, and the gap narrowed to 11 percent with higher protein during an eight month study.
