Businessmen Endorse Sewerage Plan With Tax Hike
Local leaders report after heated debate that businessmen approve a 5 percent increase to the business tax to fund a south and west village sewerage project. The plan uses the tax revenue and general levy to raise about 4000 dollars, lowering the mill rate from 42 to about 22 mills. The tax hike lasts until assessments reach roughly 347,000 dollars, likely five years, with a May 18, 1963 vote earliest to authorize funds.
