Thalberg North topped Gulf Lake Field Day on June 16 with the highest total points to win the annual shield. Greenwald finished second. Glenmoor took the softball trophy after beating Greenwald in a tight final. Annette Pasaluko of Thalberg North was top girl athlete, and Ernie Krawchuk of Brodie SD earned top boy honors. B Warkentin officiated, with district trustees running the refreshment booth.

Whitemouth Square Dancers Visit Sprague
Nine Whitemouth dancers traveled to Sprague Manitoba on Thursday June 24. They were entertained by the Sprague Square Dance club after a turkey dinner at the Homgrens home. About fifty youths danced at the town hall until midnight and returned to White Mouth by 5 a.m. Participants included Mildred Boncharski Shirley Letheman George Stefans on Ernie Steiner Ken Jorgenson and the Jorgenson and Wardrop couples.

River Hills notes a hospital stay for Mrs G Hanke and extends well wishes for recovery. Families Henschell and Golke travel from Beausejour to Fort William Duluth and Minneapolis on a return trip. A. Golke marks 12th wedding anniversary on June 21. The Manitoba Tri Union and Convention of German Baptist Churches of Manitoba held its 50th Jubilee at Whitemouth Baptist Church June 17 to 20, closing with a youth program. A 28 piece Morris Brass Band performed. Golke family visited Piney at George Buchardt’s home for several days.

Flying Wire Heads North to Monk Lake Aerial Journey
Mrs Lorna Nichols 22 year old commercial pilot landed her Aeronca at Lac du Bonnet en route to Monk Lake 50 miles north of Picket Portage Northern Manitoba on the 23rd and 24th of June. She is returning from Ottawa where she purchased the plane for private use. Her cat Jane accompanied her on the trip. The Nichols, married last January, live in a tent at Monk Lake where Mr Nichols works as a geological surveyor.

Sudden Death Shocks Seven Sisters Community
F Oxholm a 57 year old Danish-born engineer with Manitoba Good Roads and Canadian Engineers background died of a heart attack while at a local dance in Seven Sisters. He served as Winnipeg Electric Company staff in Seven Sisters and held numerous community roles including Red Cross president and church board vice chair. Survived by wife Olga, eight children, granddaughter, and extended relatives in Denmark and South America. Funeral held at Beausejour United Church with Ophir Lodge masons assisting. Russell Funeral Home handled arrangements.

The Molinski family marked the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Molinski at St Marys Parish Hall Beausejour on June 19. The couple settled in Ladywood in 1904 and later moved to Beausejour in 1941. They have five daughters four sons and 13 grandchildren with all children present. About 300 guests attended and a song The Anniversary Waltz was performed.
