Lac du Bonnet Council Clears Fences and Road Repairs

Lac du Bonnet Rural Municipality held a busy June meeting with 27 delegations. fencing removal on blind line road, hydro grading disputes, drainage issues, culverts, bridge and road improvements, tax adjustments, and staff appointments were discussed, with actions including fence removal, referrals to Hydro and Transport, and approved public works expenditures and payments.

Beausejour Co-op Plans Expansion After Strong Meeting

Beausejour Co-op re elected M Morris of Beausejour and Steve Patashnik of Brokenhead to the coordinating board. Over 180 members attended the four year old group’s gathering as sales climbed from 23000 in 1951 to 128176.98 in the current year. Maurice Gauthier praised unity and staff, while J Wielzosh earned a fuel sales prize and a Kansas trip for his family. Gordon Leckie urged women’s guilds and noted co op benefits to small merchants. Ed Borkowski forecast space and delivery improvements, with door prize winners named.

Piano Recital at Pine Falls Highlights Local Talent

The piano pupils of Mr. Ralph Linnebach presented a recital on Friday evening June 10 at Pine Falls with guest violinist Miss Joanne Kroecker of Winnipeg. Linnebach opened with Liszt Gondolienza from Venezia et Napoli and accompanied many duets while praising pupil progress since the first recital. The program included family duets and solos by students such as Mervyn Anderson Johnny Mitchell Pat Munro Barbara Romano Sharon Brown Bruce Manson Margaret Sadler and more plus Kroecker's Legende Opus 17 and Kreisler Liebesfreud.

Graduation Exercises At Consolidated School Held Friday

The annual exercises at Consolidated School took place in the school auditorium on Friday June 3. Principal Gordon Henderson introduced the graduates as Marvin Eees and Melvyn Sinclair spoke, Gail Henderson proposed a toast, and Keith Huss answered for the staff. The program featured hymns, class prophecies, greetings by John Molinski, and vocal selections by C. G. I. T. Helen Zajac and Gordon Brown delivered the valedictory for Grade XI I. A guest from the Department of Education, L. S. Bennet, urged pursuing careers matched to interests, with a graduation dance to conclude the event.

Pine Falls Fun Fair Gala Opens Town Event

The Pine Falls Hospital Auxiliary hosted a successful Fun Fair at Pine Falls Arena on Saturday June 4 drawing strong crowds. A street parade led by the Cadette Band opened activities with booths offering prizes rides and games. Net proceeds totaled 801.60 after expenses and prizes, supporting hospital improvements.

Pine Falls Cadet Corps Inspected By Lt Col Rolfe

Lt Col Rolfe of Prairie Command inspected the Pine Falls Cadet Corps and Cadette Band at the Cenotaph on Saturday June 1, praising their progress since inception. Cadet Laird Crawford received a marksmanship award won in Winnipeg, presented by Rolfe. A drill demonstration and parade followed with a retreat at 8 p.m. A large crowd watched demolitions by the 46th Field Squadron ACE from Winnipeg. Sunday featured Decoration Day parade with multiple units, wreaths, prayers, and reflections. The Pine Legion and Ladies Auxiliary held a church parade to the United Church Sunday evening.

Tyndall Couple Honoured On 25th Anniversary

Mr and Mrs Henry Dancho of Tyndall celebrated a twenty fifth anniversary party at Teddies Place on June 4. They were married in Beausejour on June 8, 1930. The event drew over 390 attendees with many speakers presenting gifts including a silver tea set. Both are active community workers and church leaders with ties to the Tyndall Hospital Guild and Greek Catholic Church.

Sid Meltzer Heads Civil Defence Area

Sidney Meltzer of Beausejour has been elected Civil Defence Officer for Civil Defence No. 1 Headquarters of the Mutual Aid Area. The area includes St. Clements, Brokenhead, Lac du Bonnet, Whitemouth, Victoria Beach, Alexander, Beausejour, Garson, Powerview Pine Falls and Great Falls. A district meeting in Beausejour on June 23 at 6 pm will address electing representatives to complete the district board.

Turner to Speak at St Clements Liberal Meeting

Honourable Ron Turner minister of Industry and Commerce will be guest speaker at the annual St. Clements Liberal association meeting at the Chateau Pine Falls on Saturday June 18 at 2 pm. He will present the film Look to the Centre and other speakers include Gildas Molgat Stan Copp and John Kuzminski with officers to be elected.

Fainting First Aid Guidelines and 1954 Canadian Wages
