The Gull Lake Sports Grounds hosted the annual field day with seven schools Thalberg North Stead Gull Lake Greenwald Fatima Thalberg South and Glenmoor. Students competed for four class divisions Primary Junior Intermediate and Senior with individual cups awarded to top athletes. Glenmoor clinched the Shield for highest points while Grand Marais defeated Thalberg Glenmoor 7 to 3 in the exhibition softball finale.

Schulz Wins Springfiell Constituency Election With 38 Percent
Jake Schulz, former MFA president and CCF candidate, won the federal election in Springfiell on Monday with 38 percent of the vote, 15,524 of 5,890 ballots. Anton Weselak Liberal candidate came second with 4,383 votes, followed by Lawrence Schlamp Social Credit with 3,586 and Val Yacula Conservative with 1,665. Voter turnout was high and a poll survey will be printed next week.

United Church WA Meeting Well Attended
A well attended monthly meeting of the Bisset United Church Women’s Association was held at Mrs. E. Finbogasson’s home. Presided by Mrs. I M Bowyer, the group discussed a future buffet dinner, donated to Fresh Air Camp, and sending Mrs. Bowyer as W A camp delegate to Qu appelle Saskatchewan in September. Volunteers will assist with fall bazaar material and wool distribution. Mrs Griffith, Bowyer and Resseau will pack rags Tuesday. A social evening followed with games and lunch provided by several members.
