Local events include weekly bingo and Al Anon meetings, seniors club monthly, and weed supervisor office hours. A June 12 cemetery cleanup, a June 23 retirement tea for Mrs Olga Zaborniak, and a bridal shower for Louise Faucher are announced along with various visits and anniversaries in the area.
The Village of Lac du Bonnet hosted a Bicycle Rodeo on 4th Street Sunday June 6 1976 with good weather allowing full participation. R C M P and others were thanked for bicycle safety efforts. Champions include Caroline Hahn Monica Taylor Monique Hebert Kevin Peterson Chad Brincheski Anthony Kost Lisa Towle Laura Solberg Maureen McCrossin Danny Caron Bradley Neal Darryl Plische and Laura Solberg along with 10 speed bicycles awarded to Darryl Plische and Laura Solberg.
Miss Joanne Pichurski a Lac du Bonnet Senior School grade 12 student earned second class honours in the University of Manitoba first year Mathematics course. Tutored by Kevin Nally of Lac du Bonnet Senior School the effort was a special project encouraged by Mr Nally. The Agassiz School Division paid her fees.
In Pine Falls a large gathering celebrated Ted Harri son’s retirement from the Abitibi Mill with a clock and money gift. Jean Harri son recently finished an upgrading course at Pine Falls Hospital and hopes to continue nursing locally. The event, at Manitou Lodge Lounge on May 27, featured speakers Len Rupert and Don Munro praising Ted’s sports participation and long community involvement.
