Enid Jonsson was crowned Queen of Eastern Manitoba for 1953 54 by E Keilbach president of the Brokenhead agricultural society at Beausejour July 1. over 10 000 visitors attended with many from western states. log sawing winners and pre eating contest victors listed along with oldest persons prizes.

Frank Mulacz of Molson retires after 35 years with Canadian Pacific railroad, last day in June at age 65 as a section foreman. A farewell party in Molson on June 20 saw coworkers present a purse of money and wish him happiness in retirement.

25th Celebrated At Brokenhead Beausejour

A twenty fifth anniversary party honored Mr and Mrs J Molinski of Brokenhead held Saturday June 27 at St Marys hall Beausejour. Mrs Molinski received a pink carnation corsage and Mr Molinski a white carnation as guests presented them with Rogers silverware a silver cream and sugar set ruby colored glassware and a cash gift.

Canadians land over six hundred million pounds of sea fish

During the first half of 1952 Canadian fishermen landed more than 600 million pounds of sea fish valued at over 27 million dollars. The figures reflect strong fishing activity across coastal regions with notable catches reported by multiple fleets.

Ten Happy Stitchers Raise Sunday School Funds

Early January Beausejour girls formed a sewing club named The Ten Happy Stitchers to improve skills and raise money for the United Church Sunday school. Penny Parades and fudge sales brought in $8 for classroom equipment, with meetings twice monthly until fall. Members include Joan Rumoh president Merla Englot treasurer Margie Englot secretary and others.

Whitemouth Hosts July 1 Sports Day and Parade

Pleasant weather and 85 degrees greeted the Whitemouth July 1 picnic and sports day on community grounds. A float parade opened the events, with a baseball tournament and a town hall dance in the evening. First prize in the parade went to the Whitemouth band, second to the Scout patrol float. Little Patsy Hunt won best decorated bicycle. Several locals and visitors from Garland Man and Sydney N S joined summer visits, with trips to West Hawk Lake and Ophir noted.

Teachers Farewelled At Whitemouth Pointe du Bois

A farewell party in Whitemouth auditorium bade Ed Maza goodbye after years of teaching and community involvement including forming a Scout troop. In Pointe du Bois, Ossowy and McKinnon were honored June 23 with gifts at the community club, Ossowy leaving for business studies and McKinnon headed to Nordale school.

Bowling Wind-up Closes Season for Seven Sisters League

Members of the Seven Sisters bowling league held their season wind-up on July 2 at the curling club. Prizes were distributed and lunch and refreshments served. Cards were played during the evening. Presentations were made to the winning team of Charlie Precious, captain, Fred King Sr., Bruce Emes and Del Cramer, high three game winner Charlie Precious, and high single champ Ken Higgins.
