In Seven Sisters Falls, W. Bill Lastinka and his seven year old daughter Barbara perished in a 2 a.m. January 15 fire. Lastinka entered the blaze to try to save Barbara and was not seen again. Lois Freman led the Ross United church service at Whitemouth Cemetery.

Pine Falls Couple Renew Vows On Golden Wedding
On Monday January 9 Mr and Mrs Frank Lafrance of Pine Falls celebrated their golden anniversary with a nuptial mass at Pine Falls Catholic church officiated by Rev Jolicoeur. A banquet at Manitou Lodge followed by a home reception featured gifts including Kreeler rockers. The couple, born in Magdalen Island Quebec in 1875 and 1878, married in 1900 and moved to Manitoba in 1906. They have five daughters two sons twenty six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Seven Sisters Red Cross Holds Annual Meeting
The Seven Sisters branch of the Canadian Red Cross met Sunday evening with president J. E. Willick in the chair. Members observed a moment of silence for Mrs. P. Kay Neilson. Reports showed a busy year with 384 dollars sent to HQ, 105 knitted and 222 sewn items shipped, and 45 blood donations plus 45 in honor of Mrs. Neilson. Officers and committee convener roles were filled, including honorary presidents W. H. Carter and E. V. Caton and president J. E. Willick.
