North Eastern Health Services Committee Discussed At Village Meeting
A December 16 1971 meeting at the Village Offices aimed to rename the North Eastern Hospital Petitions Committee to North Eastern Health Services Committee and to appoint a one year board. Current members include Joyce Larson R B McLean G Boone A Puddicombe A Pohl Point du Bois and E Veroneau Werner Lake with Gordon Johnson and Walter Zarecki representing the Village and Municipality. The group considers Community Health Centres to replace small hospitals amid rising costs. Dr Tulchinsky of Manitoba Health urged submitting a petition for such a centre. The writer will detail health centres benefits in upcoming issues.

The regular annual Legion Auxiliary meet on December 14, with vice president Alice Charles presiding, approved a donation to the Legion Christmas Tree for Deer Lodge Hospital and reviewed yearly reports. A slate of officers was presented and accepted, led by Past President Gertrude Hardy and President Pat Kost, with multiple vice presidents, a treasurer, warden, social convenor, sick visiting and other posts listed.
