Brown Shoe Co of Canada will produce a new infant and children's shoe line designed by Dr Simon Wikier. Production begins next month at the Alexandria plant which also received a Defence Department contract for 4 000 naval aviation flight deck boats. This marks Brown Shoe Co a Canadian government contract first.

Alberta Federation of Agriculture backs ARDA pilot project
At the Alberta Federation of Agriculture meeting in Calgary January 10 11 12 two ARDA resolutions were moved by Phil Duby and Carl Anderson. The plan calls for a pilot in the Eastern Irrigation District to irrigate about 25000 acres of drought damaged rangeland with federal support and PFRA engineers ready to start. The convention urged Alberta to cooperate with Ottawa to implement ARDA noting urgency of drought and potential cattle capacity gains from 3000 head to 25000 after ten years.
