Arena Benefit Night Brings Profit for Lac du Bonnet Lions
The Lac du Bonnet Lions Club hosted Arena Benefit Night on Saturday attracting many locals. Although ticket sales aimed at 250 fell short, the event still cleared a profit of about 350. The supper, prepared by the Hockey Mothers and served by 4-H Girls, preceded entertainment by Len Andree and Bernie Bray with harmonica music. Attendees praised the evening as highly enjoyable and expressive gratitude to all helpers.

Centennial Mugwump Camp Draws Sixty Nine Scouts
Sixty nine Scouts and twenty one adults spent February 7 at Lac du Bonnet for the Mugwump Camp. Shelters ranged from spruce bow can vas to tents. temperatures dropped to zero but campers remained comfortable. Patrols from River Crest Morse Place Winnipeg Pointe du Bois Pinawa Great Falls Lac du Bonnet gathered for competitions in tree ID snowshoe races a one mile hike and a log sawing contest. Awards included Lac du Bonnet Gold Silver and Bronze, with Grannys Gorillas taking top honors.

Centennial Journey by Power Toboggan Club Across Lake Winn
The Power Toboggan Club plans a 602 mile round trip from Pine Falls to Norway House on Lake Winnipeg following the historic dog sled mail route. Leaving March 1 1970 from Manitou Lodge they expect to reach Norway House March 3 with a rest day, then return by March 7. The trek honors mail carriers and invites Manitobans to send centennial stamped self addressed envelopes to be carried and returned.
