School Division Executives Attend Workshop in Winnipeg
Mr A Shevchuk of Janon and Mr S Bahry of Beausejour attended a one day Winnipeg workshop on January 30. Sponsored by The Manitoba Teachers' Society the session began study of the Royal Commission on Education report for Division Associations. Topics covered teacher training curriculum examinations and school inspection. Panel chaired by Ross Donald led to discussion on consolidation of schools and the idea of a single large high school per division. Substantial debate arose over religious training and its place in the curriculum with critics claiming the home and church still provide religious instruction.
