Fraser twins enjoy two weeks at Pioneer Girls camp

GREAT FALLS Ann and Evelyn Fraser spend a two week holiday at the Pioneer Girls camp in Indian Bay and report an excellent time. A. McSherry Heads for Vacation in Eastern Canada

Mrs A McSherry will depart August 15 for a vacation in eastern Canada. Two local boys Ross Halpin and Ted Lansdown planned a trip to a nearby beach but encountered a storm on the lake. They returned home early Tuesday morning and cited a poem line about riding the tide in their remarks.

Pine Falls Youth Dies In Car Truck Collision

A collision on the Pine Falls highway near Crescent Bay July 25 between a truck driven by Felix Courchene and a car piloted by Paul Donalchuk with his son Robert resulted in Courchene's death. A coroner's jury heard the preliminary inquiry and postponed further action for a week while Doralchuk and his son remained under hospital observation. The wrecks were near total, with no fatalities in the other vehicle confirmed.

Obituary of Axel Mattson 76 Winnipeg Manitoba native

Axel Mattson 76 of Winnipeg died July 23 at St Boniface hospital. Born in Sweden he came to Manitoba in 1905 and worked as a stationary engineer at Garson quarries before retirement. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and attended the first Lutheran church. Survived by two daughters Mrs Mary Petty of Melville Ont and Mrs Esther Hogberg of Winnipeg and a son Axel of Detroit. Elma’s Pioneer John Neva 95 Dies at Home

The first settler in Elma south of Whitemouth, John Neva, aged 95, died suddenly July 22 at his home. Born in Finland, he came to Canada in 1889 and settled in 1893 to farm. Survived by wife predeceased, son John, three daughters Mrs. C North of Berkley California, Mrs. O North of Elma, Mrs. H Egger of Gardiner Montana, 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral at Whitemouth United Church July 25 with burial in local cemetery.

Requiem High Mass In Fort Alexander For Felix Courchene

Requiem high mass held at Fort Alexander Catholic mission for Felix Courchene. Service led by Rev. Father Sheppard and Rev. Father Brachet. Born April 20, 1927 at Fort Alexander. Survived by parents Ambrose and wife, four sisters, seven brothers. Pallbearers were Alec John Henry Cyril David and Eugene Courchene.
