Federal approves Trans-Canada Highway route west of Winnipeg
The Federal Government in Ottawa approved the Manitoba proposed Trans-Canada Highway path. Public Works Minister Wm. Morton announced after word from Resources and Development Minister Robert H. Winter. The route runs from Winnipeg westward via St. James Headingly crosses No. 1 highway west of Headingly then to Portage la Prairie toward Sidney and follows the No. 1 highway corridor to the CN line, with grading planned this summer.

Beausejour businessman Herman Kaatz dies after long illness
Beausejour mourns the loss of Herman Kaatz a well known local businessman who died at his home on Saturday April 25 after a prolonged illness. Born November 8 1888 he immigrated to Canada 1905 married Louise Schraeder in 1914 and returned from Cleveland to run the Beausejour shop with his brother later taking over in 1932. Surviving are his wife seven sons Arthur Gordon Robert Harold George William three daughters Elsie Edith Ruth and nine grandchildren. Funeral was held today at 2 30 p m from Russell's funeral home and Beausejour Lutheran church at 3 p m with pallbearers his sons Arthur Gordon Robert Harold George and William.
